About Me

Liezel van der Merwe is an Adelaide Hills based artist. She is self taught and her preferred medium is oils on canvas. After years of dreaming of creating beautiful things she decided to just start the messy business of learning and growing her skillset.

She started creating art in 2020 and as a busy working mum she creates over weekends finding purpose and meaning in the creative process.

Her inspiration comes from their travels as she uses her paint brushes to capture the beauty seen in nature. Her main themes are places and feelings and hopes to give the viewer a taste of the awe and wonder that can be experienced in nature.

In the same way her work has a double meaning to inspire viewers to leave the comfort of the known and experience the awe and wonder of the unknown.
