You’ve probably seen it too—those posts flooding your feed: “Invest in yourself!” They’re everywhere on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, often accompanied by motivational quotes and smiling selfies from the gym or a new online course. And to be honest, they’re right. Investing in yourself is important.
Growth isn’t optional in today’s world. Whether it’s staying fit and healthy, picking up a new skill, building your career, or nurturing your mindset—investing in yourself is one of the wisest decisions you can make.
But here's a harder truth I had to face a few years ago…
I wasn’t investing in myself.
The Moment That Changed Everything
A few years ago, I had a brutally honest moment with myself. This thought popped into my head out of nowhere:
“You don’t invest in yourself.”
I paused, a little caught off guard. Then I asked, Why not?
The answer came swiftly—and painfully:
“Because you don’t think you’re worth it.”
That moment was a wake-up call. I couldn’t ignore it. I had to sit with that truth and I had to make a decision to change that mindset.
That moment sparked a shift. Slowly, I began to challenge that belief and replace it with something better:
“I am worth the investment.”
And once that belief changed, my intent began to change too.
Real Investment Starts with a Decision
Investing in yourself isn’t just about spending money on courses, coaching, or gym memberships. It’s about backing yourself. Believing you’re worth the time, the energy, the focus.
Here are just a few ways it might look:
- Signing up for that thing you've always wanted to try
- Taking time to rest, reset, and take care of your mental health
- Choosing growth over comfort—even when it’s scary
- Spending money on your development instead of distractions
Investing in yourself is a declaration. It’s saying:
“I’m worth the effort. I’m worth the time. I’m worth the growth.”
And here’s the thing: when you start showing up for yourself in this way, you change. You don’t just gain knowledge or strength—you begin to trust yourself more.
Change your mindset
You can become the kind of person who believes in your own value, but to do that, you first have to ask yourself:
What thoughts are holding me back?
Am I afraid to fail?
Do I feel guilty prioritizing myself?
Do I think others deserve it more than I do?
Those beliefs don’t have to define you. When you face them head-on, you can rewrite them—and that changes everything.
So let me leave you with this:
👉 You are absolutely worth the investment.
And the best time to start is right now.
